The Significance of the Lightning node (end user perspective)

I received a CASA node back in November, man was that exciting. For those who don’t know what this is, its a essentially a raspberry pi with a 1T HDD in a custom made case.
The packaging was nice, the instructions were simple.

Plug it in
Power it up
Connect it to the network
Open a browser and type link provided

Within about 6 hours my bitcoin node had synced, my lightning node was marked active and I was ready to start being reckless :). the CASA node is both a bitcoin node and lightning node in one.

I think the CASA node shows bitcoin is in an interesting time where it’s working to move more mainstream. I am not a programmer, I don’t care to spend hours and hours compiling a program or figuring config files. I just want to be able to get an appliance, put my info in, move my bitcoin onto it and be a part of the bitcoin ecosystem, and this is exactly what CASA has done with this node.

We need to keep reducing the friction between technical ability and the ability to use and take part in the bitcoin ecosystem. There is also NODL ;I haven’t used it so I cannot speak to the user experience with that product but I imagine its similar. We are starting to see more end user focused products and apps and this will help on board the next 100 million. Be #Reckless, Have fun!
